03/03-2010 | We were supposed to go to Vulcan
2/03/10
Today we were supposed to go to Vulcan, one of the main Gypsy neighborhoods in Dimitrovgrad, to evangelize. We didn’t because it was raining a bit. In Bulgaria, if it isn’t sunny out people don’t go out. Quite a contrast with the evangelization in Minsk, the temperature was around - 25 then.
So the evangelization day became a preparation for the evangelization day. We practiced the mask drama and all of our girls tried acting in the role of the main girl; role that was previously taken by Ann-Sofi. Chance wanted that Katya would become the new main girl. We invited Petya to stay for lunch and eat wheat, spaghetti and meat balls. Katya made the meat balls with a lot of love and Andy made the wheat and Spaghetti. Andy had to make wheat and spaghetti because we didn’t have enough of one thing.. Petya said that in Bulgaria they only eat wheat as a desert when someone dies. Turns out she likes to eat it even if it isn’t sweet and no one died.
We had an early dinner and then everyone hurried off to the internet café. Some of us bought flights home, DTS is almost over and it is time to start thinking about those things. Others called friends and family, others watched twilight but only because they wanted to see a certain character turn into a wolf. All this happened while our beloved almost 3 year old team member ran around the internet café spitting. Some of his most notorious targets were David’s back and Tito’s mouse.
After the internet café we had what we call team time. We played charades, Andy won. After a lengthy game of charades we played another team favorite, the blind folded stick poking game. Basically 1 person is blindfolded and everyone else walks around him then they stop and the blindfolded person tries to guess who a certain person is by poking and stroking them with a short role of paper.
After team time David and Tito went back to the internet café because they are addicted and because David needed to buy a plane ticket (but we don’t believe that excuse). The other team members went to bed.
If the weather is good tomorrow we will evangelize in Vulcan, the forecast says it will rain, we will see what happens.
3/3/10
To my surprise today was a sunny day. That means that the evangelization in Vulcan would happen. We practiced the last things we had to practice and left.
We prepared a 50 minute program with dances, dramas, testimonies and a mini sermon at the end. We also prayed for people and some of them said the prayer of salvation. Overall I think we were all happy we got to evangelize here in Bulgaria.
In the evening, after the evangelization Katya, Tito and Andy went to Kaufhald to buy some food for the hungry students. Turns out that when we were about to pay we find out that Nastya didn’t give Katya the credit card so we only had 90 Leva to pay for all of our stuff. We managed, it was kind of embarrassing but we managed.
See you tomorrow blog reader.
