Jesus and cultures

Jesus had an amazing ability to meet people at their level - also in engaging with people from diffrent cultures. One example is the woman at the well i Samaria. In today's Language you can say Jesus had a high "Cultural intelligence".

Cultural intelligence is defined as a combination of:

• Knowledge about cultures and culture differences
• Knowledge about your self and others
• intercultural skills

In engaging with the woman at the well we can se that Jesus had knowledge og his own Jewish culture and the Samaritan culture. He was councies of himself and he saw the real person behind the facade the woman held up. Jesus had a amazing ability to communicate and wake something up in this woman.

For Jesus it was not enough to know the cultural rules - He also had the ability to navigate through a strange culture and find new ways. He got under the surface, met people in their level and communicated with his heart.

To be a Christian means to be Christ like. It may sound un-spiritual, but by studying culture and evelop intercultural skills vi can become more like Jesus.
